As to the value of the Karuth-Perantucci... the old saying is that it's worth whatever someone will pay for it. Do your research and make an offer you can live with.

If you underbid but are at your maximum, you only found out you couldn't afford it. If you make an offer that's accepted, you have an instrument you wanted at a price you wanted.

Most likely there will be some haggling. The rule for you is to know what you can spend. This works for buying a car, too.

No one would want to give you a dollar amount without seeing and playing the instrument.
