Why write double flats? Blame it on theory teachers who insist that a C diminished 7th chord must have B double flat when the same sound can be gotten with an A dimished 7th except you can't explain an A dim7 in the key of Db unless you see it as some form of a secondary dominant chord to an Augmented 6th...
