There is no doubt in my mind that those three converted Yorks had the sound even as BBb instruments, but were just not marketable in their configuration and condition. If they didn't, Bob Rusk probably would not have wasted his time on them. And if they had the marketable configuration (larger bore, four front-action pistons, and playable condition), they would have been worth too much as BBb instruments to be worth converting to CC. That was the case with my BBb Holton, which I put in the same category as those Yorks. It's purely a business decision.
