I asked Hans Pizka, the Austrian born primo horn of the Bavarian State Opera, who has done a lot of subbing in the WPO. He relayed the question to his band fellow, Bob Tucci. I could have asked BT myself, by I considered him being too young.
Hans Pizka's reply was: "The tuba player could have been Karl Schedl or
Leopold Kolar, but he (BT) thinks that Schedl played that concert. (Valkyrie)."
