I just did some repairs on a 2155. I was expecting it to have more "life" than a 2145, but rather, I found the 2155 to be just a disappointing as the 2145. The 2155 also was very annoying in its third partial intonation. It is hard to beat a Miraphone for a budget tuba. I think that a good compromise for more tone than a Miraphone but intonation that is at least tolerable is the Rudy Meinl 4/4. It doesn't have "cool trendy" pistons, but nevertheless it is quite decent, if carefully selected.
