Please don't get the wrong idea Joe! I'm not annoyed with you, I just can't accept that I didn't give 100% to my craft by searching out and finding a bargain when shopping for tubas. The story I related about my Cervany 601 is true and I could relate 3 other stories about each of my other 3 tubas that all follow a similar theme. I'm guessing I've spent less on my 4 tubas than most current professionals have spent on any 1 of theirs. Part of that, I feel, is attributed to the fact that I never bought into the hype that certain manufacturers and retailers have been spewing for decades. So, would I play better if I had spent more money on tubas? I can honestly say no and I would suggest that I might even be worse off if things hadn't worked out the way that they did. I guess it proves that finding what works for you is the most important consideration.

Thanks for the thoughtful discussion Joe!
