Automotive shops nor furniture refinishing places don't do the brass polishing and degreasing thing prior to lacquering, plus I don't think that you want polyurethane or tung oil on your horn (OK, make fun of my spelling, again). Little shops that might actually polish and lacquer brass decorator objects are accustomed to only having to bend stuff back in place when they make a boo-boo, and not having to actually put something back in "working order". Best to go to a musical instrument overhaul shop. A decent one (busy, though) is Petafore in Elkhart, Indiana. They do all of Anderson Silver Plating's buffing on stuff that is not shipped to them in "ready-to-plate" condition.
