James,

I recently bought a tuba on e-Bay auction. It's a Courtois E flat three piston valve small-bore tuba in very good playable condition. The appearance is not good because of the "spotty" worn lacquer. My guess is the tuba is less than 25 years old and the pistons are in almost new condition. Slides are nickle-plated and move very freely. The tone quality is very robust and heavy-bodied, but the disadvantage is the usual three valve limitation. It is impossible to play in tune the extreme low range on the horn. From B on up, however, the intonation and tone quality are very nice. It is one of the sweetest sounding E flat tubas I have run across. There are two depressions near the bottom bow, 1/8" and 1/4" deep. Otherwise, the horn is in good shape.

My price is $410 plus shipping.
