I picked up my Nirschl York-copy in March, and have been thoroughly pleased
with it! I played a Deck-o-phone for about 5 years, and there's just NO
comparison. The tone on the Nirschl is much more vibrant, singing, interesting.

Drawbacks: All these horns (there've been about 25 built so far) seem to have the
same intonation quirks: Low C is pretty sharp in relation to tuning C. Since
there's no fancy slide pulling to remedy this, it requires you learning to blow
the low C lower (not ideal...). Also, top-space G (and surrounding notes) is
REAL sharp. These tendencies remain, regardless of mouthpiece choice. That
being said, it's well worth dealing with the quirks. The tone is SO magnificent
on these horns, you'll never look back. Be prepared to wait about a year between
order and delivery.

Mr. Nirschl is continuing development on these horns-- some horns have slightly
different leadpipes, and they try various minor cosmetic improvements as well.
By and large, though, the "shake-down" period of development is over, and they're
building really consistent instruments.
