I can't avoid using my hard case here at school, since it's stored in the instrument room on a low shelf (no tuba lockers -- UNK is not known for architectural foresight), and it rarely leaves the building. I wouldn't mind using a bag for traveling when the thing doesn't leave my sight, but at any other time, I'll stick with the case.
I must be quoting somebody else's post when I say, "Use whatever works best"! :)
