Absolutely right! I've also had that same pitch from the folks in Detroit where they actually use the inclusion of the player's name and picture in their subsequent advertisements as a selling point for their instruments, like it is some kind of honor! I was thinking the same thing as you about the Self/Yamaha deal, in that if Jim is getting complimentary instruments, Yamaha would be about the only manufacturer big enough (at least among tuba manufacturers) to be able to financially sustain such a practice.
