I played a pre-WWII silver king sousaphone for three years, 1953-56. It was
only 3 valves but it wasone of the finest tubas I ever had my hands on. It
was not a blaster but had a gentle cultured tone if I did my part. If you
need a silver sousaphone and can find one of these that is straight, go for
it. I used a King 26 mouthpiece.
