I used to be a dyed in the wool rotary user but now my primary horn is a piston horn and have had good and bad experiences with both. Judge a horn by the sound you get when you play and how it feels to you not by the type of valves it has.
Some say that rotors are little lower maintenance but on a if you get the oil/quality of piston right you won't be able to tell the difference (at least on good quality horns).
