Yeah, I agree up to a point. High-frequency sibilant sounds like cymbals are the bane of digital recording processes in general, not just minidisc. The ATRAC compression algorithm in minidisc will indeed clean out a few freguencies that are normally not hearable behing high energy transients, and this is more hearable by expert ears in those high frequencies.

But there are more than a few critical listeners who claim that all digital media suffer this weakness compared with analog recording. Personally, I can't hear it, so I'll have to take their word for it.
