Monel contains NO chromium; it's basically an alloy of Copper, nickel and a bit of manganese and iron. It's sometimes been described as a naturally-occurring alloy. Stainless has chromium in its alloy, but there's stainless and then there's stainless. I believe that Besson calls its pistons "stanless steel plated", whatever that means.
