There are some tunes that a contra bass octave really sounds great on. Steve Bloom and I used to play together in the local community band here in Great Falls MT. On one concert
we did the William Byrd Suite (correct me if I'm wrong, Steve) and parts of that demanded
the low octave. It sounded like a pipe organ using my 100 year old King.
