Rick Denney and I are always eager to comment on this subject, as the pedal octave is often so reminiscent of well-focused flatulence. More B&M baked beans might be in order, and I've recently found that roasted garlic has a unique timbre.

In all seriousness, FF pedal tones are hard to come by without assistance. Lower frequencies are non-directional and tend to disperse more rapidly, so the secret is an awful lot of good support.
