I played bass trombone on Brahms' 2 last week. A young substitute tuba player came in with a big silver-plated 5 valve Willson CC. That was a wonderful exposure to the Willson sound, especially sitting next to it. Everyone in the orchestra glanced back in admiration of that horn's sound.
