I've been dinking around with one of these for the past week and half, and I've come to the following conclusions:
-the sound is darker (more fundamental, fewer overtones) than other Mirafone models
(incl, in my opinion, the 188)
-pitch (intonation) is a little quirkier than your avg Mirafone. However, compared to
most other makes (B&S, M.Weston, Hirsbrunner, etc), the pitch is still decent. On the
particular horn which I'm trying, the 5th partial is about 15 cents flat, and the 6th
and 8th partials are each about 15 cents sharp
-the low register (specifically, low/contra e down to pedal c) is pretty stuffy -- again,
more than the rotary models that Mirafone produces.
