I bought a 188 CC from brasswind about four mounths ago and I love the horn. It has a much bigger sound than the 186 and I feel that it has better upper register response. I played it side by side with the Rudy's, the Mienl 2145, and the 2155. I am playing the Gregson tuba concerto this coming sunday on the 188. As for the 2155, I found that the horn lacked a little in the extreme upper register(above the staff). But at the same time wasn't quite big enough to be a strictly orchestral horn. The 188 that I bought was a new model with a first valve trigger and vented valves. I think that Mike Russo at Brasswind was going to try to get a few more of them in. I hope this helps.
