I know what you are talking about, I've seen that sort of work in the past. I personally find it easier on the back to remove the bell and take the Wreath off when I do an overhaul and call me old fashioned but I was tought to take the horn apart (unsolder) before removing the dents, Just a little trick I was taught when I was an apprentice.
