Jamel,
I think it was a combination of factors, both economic and musical. I do think it is a shame, though, just like the demise of the York Co. I own a York CC and a Conn 34J (like a 24J, but with standard pistons, .770"), and I think the Conn is every bit as good a horn as the York. Although there have been tuba developments at UMI recently, management does not yet seem to think that there is sufficient potential for profit in reissuing the 2XJ series. I would suggest that if you want the 2XJ's to return, get the phone number or E-mail address for your regional UMI representative, and consistently bug him about it. In this way, word gets to the management. By the way, you only need to look for 23, not 25 of them. I have restored two 20J's for JSU which should be back from the platers any day now. I even bought new cases from them. Enjoy!
