I've read an article dealing with many of these studies and the research showed that most of the participants showed increased aptitude for about a half hour. I don't think anybody has done a study on participants for any great amount of time (year or more). Most of these studies were conducted over a matter of days, with the listening sessions taking about a half hour to an hour.
