three things:
try sheets or a pillow( or pillow cases) instead of newspaper because it's lets likely to create a hard edge when waded. also, DO NOT put any valve oil or mouthpieces in your case(even if you have a pocket or pouch inside). there is a great chance that the pouch will open and the stuff inside will ding your horn (happened to me with a bottle of valve oil and put little dents in the bell. the case had a button snap but still came open). i also took the valves out of my horn, wrapped them individually, and put them in my carry on. i've heared of taping them down but don't really like the idea. you definetly shouldn't leave the valves as is in the horn. a slight drop of a case by a skycab could bend or dent one. i wish someone would've told me this before my first flight. good luck.
