A while ago there was a discussion about the LA Phil recording of Revueltas music inculding the "Homenaje a Federico Garcia Lorcas" featuring a kick-butt tuba part. One lister wondered what Revueltas' inspiration might have been -- another cited a tradition of virtuoso Mexican sousaphone players. This lister also mentioned the frequent use of synth. tuba in modern Mexican "big band" recordings.

I recently bought one such recording... and although it's fun to listen to I really hate the synth tuba and I philosophically object to it as well. Does anyone have any reccomendations for great Mexican "band" recordings with all LIVE instruments? Thanks for any suggestions.
