According to Langwill, "Serenader" was a trade name used by Gretsch. Gretsch was primarily known for Guitars and drums, but sold brass instruments in the early 20th century. I have seen one Eb alto horn that had the Gretsch name on it. I understand that the brass instruments that Gretsch did sell were primarily marketed to marching bands and drum corps.
