Are you trying to say that unless we rabbit on about nothing but PT tubas that anything we say is USELESS??????????? Just a bit narrow minded I would think.

As for the knock against "shop talk", It seems that is basically what this forum is all about, or should we all go buy a PT and never bother to communicate with each other again?

Agreed the player has to do the work, but the instrument does make a difference and frankly the PT line still does not match it with some of the great old instruments. Maybe if a few people searched out, tried, and made present day makers aware of the attributes of the old gems, they might make the effort to reproduce them.

The original post asked for opinions on tubas with great low ranges and while the instruments cited may not be plentiful, they are available and quite possibly worth seeking out as answers to the original question.
