It's awfully hard to compare a King and a Miraphone. Both play well, and are easy to play in tune. Both can be used in similar situations. But they are different in concept. The Miraphone produces a more focused sound, and the King is rounder. The King follows the American tradition of instruments with a shorter, fat shape and a relatively large bell, and the Miraphone is more Germanic with tall, narrow bell.

I don't have a King, but I do have a Miraphone. For some situations, I prefer the Germanic sound and punch. For others (including in most resonant halls), I prefer the rounder, more colorful sound of the York Master (which is more in the same tradition as the King). I'd be hard-pressed to persuade anybody that one is better than the other, just different.
