I've never seen the flat step and a half slide. I do have the whole step slide (the one I use) and the two step slide, and as you know it can be setup as a half step without any of the extenders in place, but the step and a half is new to me.
I like having the slides on the top and on the bottom because there are almost unlimited ways to set them up so the horn is in tune.
Perhaps you should contact David Fedderly about it...he could probably fill us in on it.
