That's the way the Hirsbrunner HB-6 is made - in the old Kaiser style. The bore is huge and the throat on the bell is very wide (it almost swallows my large Humes & Berg mute) but the bell is only 17 17/8" wide. The bottom bow on my HB-6 is actually wider than my friend's Neptune. This results in a very large sound that still has a good deal of clarity to it.
