Paul, I lucked out the last time I shipped by GPX and, based on my experience and your story, will probably never use them again. When I paid the freight at the local shipping office, I was amazed to see no less than 6 feet of tags printed and attached to the case. When asked what they were for, the agent responded that they represented bus changes--some with non-Greyhound carriers. Scared the dickens out of me. Greyhound ships bucket-brigade style--one bus passes the package off to the next and tears one tag off...

Greyhound may be okay for sending suitcases full of dirty underwear, but that's about it.

Amtrak or even one of the freight companies, like Yellow, is definitely the way to go.

My sympathies to you and I hope your horn turns up safe and sound. You did have ID inside the case, didn't you? There are still some honest people around, so don't give up hope.
