You shouldn't have any problems just as long as you don't trust anyone else to move your horn from bus to bus (this only applies if you have a bus transfer). Once when I was coming back from a music festival in Arkansas we had a stopover in Little Rock. My tuba got put onto a bus that was going through Kansas City. The person who was behind me (who was also going to Minnesota) had his luggage put onto a bus that was going through St. Louis (both ending in Minneapolis). The problem was I was going through St. Louis and he was going through Kansas City. I caught my tuba going on the wrong bus, he trusted them to get his luggage on the right bus. I had my tuba in Minneapolis and he lost his luggage. Other than incidences like this, I've had no problems travelling by bus and will do it again without hesitation.
