I first heard that piece performed by Jay Rozen about a dozen years ago. It may also be on his CD (available at Tap Music last I looked).
He frequently experimented with electronics in the form of pedal-operated guitar sound processors, both on his own, in the Nelson-Rozen Duo, and during his long stint in the Creative Opportunity Jazz Ensemble in Austin. The results were, well, out there, but then that describes a whole of what Jay does.
Hopefully, someone whose currently in contact with Jay (he's now in the New York area) will connect him to Doug.
