Hey Bobby, I recently won a concerto comp with Vintage. I think the cadenza in it really helped me win it. Pieces with big cadenzas like that really show your musicality and hopefully, that's what your judges will be looking for. Think about pieces that you really enjoy, but also give you a really good chance at winning the comp. I felt I had a much better chance of winning with Vintage than I did with something like Symphonic Variants. The only problem with Vintage is having to project over a large band with the the thick scoring it has, but the crowd usually loves it. Do you want to do something fun, flashy, or something huge and serious? If I had to narrow it down to three pieces for euph and band, I'd say Vintage, Symphonic Variants, or the Bourgeios Concerto. Can you do a whole piece, or just a mvt? I think those stand alone pretty well, and best of all, they're fun, great pieces of music. Best of luck to you Bobby. E-mail me if you have any questions.
