This I learnt from a famous cardiologist's lecture. Some beta blockers can have a sedative secondary effect in a certain dosis. Personally as for me, I don't find any disadvantages by occasional use. Your body gets the signal of a big challenge and can't differ between an archaic animals attack and a difficult tuba performance, so your adrenaline is forcing to switch over to HEAVY DUTY. In case of fighting (or flight), the stress hormons can get reduced by exhausting physical actions, not so in case of a music performance. So, bbs might protect your heart in such situations. Of course, in general, everybody should clarify individual indications/contra-indications with a doctor.
