Jochen, good to have you join our little gathering. No, we are not all professionals. There are several professionals that do post here, including a few that are internationally known (at least among tuba players!). There are many High School and University students, some repair people, and a lot of old amateur tuba players, some good and some not so good (I fit into that last category). We also have had participants from every continent (although we haven't heard from the guy in Africa for quite awhile).
Our host is Sean Chisham, who plays tuba in the U.S. Army Ceremonial band. He keeps us playing nice in spite of ourselves, and welcomes everyone as long as they follow a few simple rules (see the FAQ for what is/isn't okay to post).
For me this is the only place I can go where I can say "I enjoy playing tuba", and not get weird looks.
