The pieces were written a "vocalises" for Borgodni's vocal students. Either Bordogni or hired pianists accompanied the students when playing them.

Obviously piano parts were written and indeed exist. An old edition that I've seen (vocal) was published in "octavo" size. Dr. Stanley Shumway (surely retired by now) at the University of Kansas owned the ones that I saw. Many of them were in different keys - ex. Something that Rochut put in Eb for the trombone might have originally been written in E by Bordogni for the vocalist, etc.
