As a musician, pay varies so much that I just kind of wanted to learn the ins and outs of professional tuba playing. What level of orchestra would provide a living? What else do professional tuba players actually do other than play in orchestra? I know many tubists that travel around and do a LOT of solo work, but what else is there? And what is the experience coming out of college looking for a job like? Do you automatically start looking for jobs senior year or even much earlier? Would getting a job out of college still require me to keep my day job to live comfortably? Thanks for personal answers to any of my questions.
