In addition to the two mentioned above I would add these others as possibilities.


This first one is often referred to as the Empire Brass setup(I guess Empire Brass has used this at some point). The bells of all instruments face outward (toward the audience). The horn and tuba curve inward for excellent eye contact. The middle three instruments can switch places as desired.

This next setup has been used by the Eastman Brass (Eastman faculty quintet). It is unique. The tuba has excellent sight of trombone, horn and one of the trumpets, and has good peripheral vision of the other trumpet. The horn bell points toward the back wall (similar to the way it does in an orchestra).
