For my current grad school, a generally high GPA was definitely looked upon favorably. This demonstrates that you will not only be a solid player, but will also do the required book work for the degree. The academic requirements are very rigorous here, and I found that I may have been unprepared in my undergrad, though I graduated with a 3.7GPA. I would definitely advise any undergrad seriously thinking of pursuing a graduate degree to excell in all coursework in addition to playing the snot out of the horn. Good work habits are essential in any discipline, and having excellent grades demonstrates your ability to work.
