I'm not sure they believe that what they forbid is untrue. I think they simply have chosen to place it beyond the realm of legitimate discourse. Rather than deal with the ideas that may challenge their political and intellectual views, they've simply chosen to make their very mention forbidden.
Age must have thinned their skins.
It also removed their backbones.
Sad. Really sad.
