I still like Claritin. I think that it works better for me than Allegra. When Claritin isn't enough, Benedryl (although it knocks me out) is the only answer. When I am taking five of those per day and it is still bad, I go in to the doctor for some prednisones (a steroid). This, of course, will only be prescribed if your allergies are particularly bad.
I don't really consider sudafed a medication for allergies, but as a medication to stave off a bacterial sinus infection. I know that companies like to push the allergy medication with a built-in decongestant. Usually, for me, if the allergies are under control, a decongestant isn't needed. They tend to dry out the linings of my sinuses and can actually create a feeling of congestion.
If you use sudafed, or any decongestant, make sure to drink a good deal of water. You will need to go to the bathroom often. I hope this helps.
