Yes, I think the Holton has steered me to a particular sound concept. I've heard many players in your league praise the timbre versatility of instruments like the Alex, though they say that the Alex requires the player to do all the work. Clearly, the BAT's don't have that timbre versatility, though I don't think I'd be able to tap into that versatility in any case.

But the sound that the Holton helps me make is a more versatile sound than what I get out of my other tubas. It may have only one sound, but that sound works in a wide range of circumstances, it seems to me.

And then, I'm happy if I can make one good sound.
