Well, I now have drool all over my monitor too. But we have two Great Danes so we have drool everywhere so my wife won't blame me for it.

I wonder - it seemed to me that my throat was more open on the doe sound - so I began to think that there must be a physical difference in the shape of the throat - after all, if there's air flowing there must have been a process of "turning it on" that happens earlier on the doe sound and I wonder if the air is gated by the area around the base of the tongue, which would mean that the back of the mouth would already be open when the tongue separated.

I don't know the official vocabulary, but I suspect that so many teachers wouldn't be using the concept if there weren't something there. Just have find it.
