I agree. But "new" vs "old" may not be right. I played Mark's ancient old B&S and it had an easier low C than my newish MW. So it's not age of design. That huge F he has also has a brighter sound than my teeny one. Not age, not size, neither.

I'm glad to hear your low C's are improving without apparrent practice (my practice consists of two hours at brass band on Friday nights, and some honking around.)

I can't find a 4th valve problem on my 184 CC, but I've been told also that it is exceptionally open in the low register.
