Everyone has different finacial situations. So, how one person paid for their horn may not work for you. I would imagine that there are some people who just happens to have $6000 in cash ready to spend (hard for me to imagine:))
My first tuba (which I used my entire undergrad years) was a used "piggy" Cerveny that I paid $1800. My grandparents and parents helped with some of the money and I paid the rest. Once I graduated and got a teaching job, I still could not afford a nice tuba. But, I could afford to pay for it monthly using a credit card. So, it's been a combo of cash and credit. But, you need to be able to afford to pay off the card.
