Paganini was marked by incredible performance technique and showmanship. I can think of people in my profession who have those skills in abundance. We call them "knob-twirlers" because they can stand on a street corner and fiddle with timings to seemingly work miracles. I don't do it at the street corner. I'm the one who designs the system to be effective enough so that Mr. Paganini could do it from the comfort of his office, so that he can work his magic at a dozen intersections a day instead of just one. That is much more like a composer and much less like a virtuoso.
