You won't forget how to play CC tuba. Don't worry about that. I found that learning new fingerings or transpositions was easiest if I played familiar music which I enjoyed. This made the learning process more fun than tedious. It will just take time and persistance like everything else. No secrets here.

As far as why an F tuba plays differently than the CC tuba. That is because it is a different horn. If you want to play a horn which plays and sounds like a CC tuba than play a CC tuba. Be flexible. Often times we work so hard for an ideal, that I we forget that there can be more than 1 ideal. True contrasts, not just variations on the same ideal, will make for more interesting listening and experiences.

I can't play double high C's on a trumpet either. That is because I have not trained myself to be able to do that. If I put in the quality time and dedication needed than I could.
