Don't try to use any tips or tricks or conversions based on another key or keys. Just keep the open harmonics in the back of your head: pedalf-f-c-f-a-c-f-g-a-etc in the back of your head. If you get to know where the open tones are 'like the back of your hand,' it will be easy to remember the others.
F tuba is a totally different instrument from CC.
P.S. When are you going to let me play that darn thing?
