Are you thinking of the word "Decal"? It's usually a very thin transparent sheet with something printed on it which you can adhere to things.
They used to make them with all kinds of cure little pictures and you would wet them and stick them on yourself (at least when I was a kid).
By the way, I think the full word is "decalcomania" but I haven't seen it called anything but "decal" for decades.
